Works! But it’s NOT an autoclave
Invaluable addition for home use, especially for nail tools, body jewelry, hemostats, hair rollers, etc. I needed an inexpensive and reliable method for sterilizing all of these things & so far this machine has done a great job. However, it’s NOT an autoclave, I removed a star for that because autoclave ≠ UV sterilizer. Autoclave is a giant pressure cooker that destroys germs in a vacuum. Once a cycle starts, the door locks & the steam has to release at the end of the cycle or it’ll explode just like a pressure cooker. This sterilizer is like an Easy Bake Oven with UV instead of a heating element. The doors don’t lock, there’s no pressure, no steam, nothing more than UV light. That’s perfectly fine for personal / at home use, but absolutely NOT for anything that’s gonna be used commercially / on other people. The machine itself does produce UV light—I bought a UV test strip to test the efficiency & honesty of the sterilizer—but UV light is just not an effective sterilizer in the way an autoclave or fire or boiling is. Extreme heat kills 99% of all living things. If UV could do that, the Earth would be done for.So that’s the negatives of UV & why this IS NOT an autoclave. The machine itself works well, definitely produces UV light, and has a fairly solid but lightweight construction. It’s large enough to do a whole set of tools or tray of jewelry, you still need to clean and scrub your tools before sterilizing. UV is not a substitute for elbow grease.I’ve used it solidly for two months now & have no complaints. There’s no way to actually test the sterility of anything without sending tools off to a lab or buying a super expensive swab reader (you swipe a sterilize cotton swab all over a surface then stick the swab into this handheld machine that then shows the amount of filth still present. It’s like $2000 or something crazy like that). If you’re tight on space, this is a hefty machine to find a spot for. The power plug mercifully is at the side of the machine instead of behind it, so you can push it up against a wall or place it on a shelf. If you just have a couple tools you want to sterilize, like some tweezers, nail files, clippers, etc, you can probably go with a cheaper & small sterilizer.

Great at home product to have.
This is really great for homeosterilization it is compact but big enough and easy to place on the counter in your bathroom. If it’s big enough that’s where I have mine. I’m able to place it there and just use it whenever I see fit. I do like to kind of put stuff in there and fill it up a little bit before I use it. I feel that it does a good job and I can trust what I put in there. I’m really happy I got this. I’ve been using it for nail tools earrings other jewelry and other things at home that I want sterilize that are safe to go inside.

Nice little sterilizer – works well
This UV sterilizer from Smiledt is recommended for salon use, but we use at home and it works great. It comes with 2 racks – the one with feet goes on the bottom and you hange the other on the 4 pegs located halfway up the height of the unit. Operation is simple – there is a power button for on/off, and a button to select button to choose the time you would like to sterilize. When you power the unit on, it will default to 30 minutes, but the select key allows you to choose your time from as little as 5 minutes upt to 60 minutes. It will beep when the cycle is complete and the power light will remain blinking until you open the door and remove your items. While it states it is odorless, if you’re familiar with UV lights or ozonators, it does produce an “ozone” smell that you will detect on your items as well as when you open the door once sterilization is complete. It’s a distinct scent similar to when it rains. It does not produce any heat during sterilization, so items are safe to handle when the cycle is complete. We use this for small items mostly for personal hygiene – toothbrushes, hair brushes, makeup brushes, combs, etc – but we also use for the lids on our water bottles in between dishwasher cycles as a method of daily sterilization after handwashing. If you have a baby or toddler, it’s perfect for binky’s, teething toys, and bottles if you remove the top rack. So overall, we really like it for sterilizing small items. It replaces the one I built in a styrofoam cooler during the covid days, and looks much better lol! It really gives us confidence in cleanliness and it’s a pretty fair price.
